Carol Vigil (Vocals/Guitar/Vihuela) was born in El Paso, Texas and raised on an alfalfa and chili farm in Belen, New Mexico. She began playing guitar and singing country music at age 11 and then became interested in Spanish music after graduating from Belen High School. Carol received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of New Mexico in Psychology and Counseling, respectively. Carol began her love affair with mariachi music while playing vihuela with Trío Alegre con Bajo. Eventually, she went on to form her own group, Mucho Corazón, who have been performing for over 9 years in the Albuquerque area. Carol has also provided musical direction  for La Compania de Teatro de Alburquerque in productions such as “Farolitos of Christmas” and “A Chicano Christmas Carol.” With the Department of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, she provided musical direction for Octivio Solís and Marcos Loya’s production of “La Posada Mágica” at the Rodey Theatre. Over the years, she has collaborated with Leila Flores-Dueñas in hundreds of performances and presenting historical and academic projects through musical and visual presentations, such as “La Mujer y Su Música.”
